Abstract
Process for obtaining aging resistant AES polymer based molding compounds from: A) 10-90 parts by weight of a graft polymer obtained by graft polymerization of styrene or styrene and acrylonitrile as graft monomer in the presence of an EPDM rubber or a mixture of an EPDM rubber with a saturated rubber as the graft base and, B) 90-10 parts by weight of a styrene homopolymer or a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer with a ratio of styrene to acrylonitrile from 80:20 to 50:50, where styrene can be totally or partially replaced by α-methylstyrene, characterized in that graft polymer A is prepared C) by polymerization in an aromatic hydrocarbon or in a mixture of aromatic hydrocarbons such as solvent at temperatures above 80ºC, and the following proportions by weight are maintained: Graft solvent/monomer + graft base = 2.5: 1 to 10: 1.
