Abstract
A process for the preparation of alanine derivatives which consists in reacting pyruvic fluorine acid with an optically active d-amine, thus forming the corresponding d-ketimine, reacting the latter with an alkali metal borohydride or an alkaline metal borodeuteride for thus reducing the ketimine and forming the corresponding N-substituted 3-fluoro-d-alanine or N-substituted 2-deutero-3-fluoro-d-alanine and reacting said N-substituted compound with hydrogen, in the presence of a hydrogenation constituted by palladium hydroxide in carbon, thus hydrogenolizing the N-substituent to form 3-fluoro-d-alanine or 2-deutero-3-fluoro-d-alanine.
