Abstract

A method of preparing a test strip for the detection of homocystine and cystine, which comprises dissolving a nitroprusside salt at a concentration of 0.2 to 20% in a solvent, optionally together with a chelating agent; adjust the resulting solution to an alkaline pH; immerse an absorbent material in the highlighting solution for a suitable time; if desired, immerse the absorbent material immersed in a solution of a coloring matter; then drying the resulting absorbent material in air or under reduced pressure, at a temperature ranging from room temperature to about 50ºC; then immerse the dried absorbent material in a solution containing a reducing agent at a concentration of 0.5 to 10% for a suitable time; and then drying the resulting absorbent material in air or under reduced pressure, at a temperature ranging from room temperature to about 50ºC.
