Procedure for stabilizing chlorine-containing polymers, in particular polyvinyl chloride masses, against the destructive influence of light and heat, characterized in that a synergistic active mixture is incorporated into the masses of synthetic material, consisting of: a) a stabilizer containing metal; b) a metal-free ester, consisting of one mole of a polyol with 2 to 6 hydroxyl groups and 1 to n-1 mole of a straight chain or branched saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid with 6 to 11 carbon atoms or a mixture of said carboxylic acids, where n means the functionality of the polyol, and c) if necessary, other usual auxiliary stabilizers, complexing agents and antioxidants, in a total amount of 1 to 10 percent by weight, with respect to the polymer it contains chlorine.
