Abstract

Procedure for the production of solid polyurethanes, characterized in that in a first stage, a polyester is prepared having a viscosity of the order of 100 to 250 centistokes at 100ºC, a hydroxyl value within the range of 50 to 100 KOH/g and an index acidity less than 2.0 mg KOB/g, by condensation of adipic acid with a molecular excess of a mixture of polyols consisting of ethylene and propylene glycols, in a molar ratio of 65:35 to 75:25 together with a polyol that it has 3 or more hydroxyl groups and a molecular weight of less than 500, the amount of the latter being necessary to give 0.2 branching points per 1000 units of molecular weight of the polyester; and in a second stage, the polyester is reacted with tolylene diisocyanate at an NCO: OH ratio of the order of 0.88: 1 to 1.20: 1, under virtually anhydrous conditions.
