Abstract
A modified heat transfer tube for the improvement of transferring heat to a liquid in contact with the outer surface thereof in submerged boiling applications, said tube having a plurality of axially spaced fin turns extending around said tube, said tube having a continuous cylindrical wall, said fin turns having internal base parts which generally extend radially outwards from said wall and having external parts inclined towards the side of the adjacent turns to define with them partially closed spaces that they extend around the tube, the outer tips of said turns being very little separated from the sides of the adjacent turns to define with them effectively continuous openings that extend circumferentially, elongated, restricted, that communicate with said spaces, the external parts being of said configured fins, in separate zones ci circumferentially, to define substantial widening of said openings.
