Abstract

Método para preparar composiciones retardadoras de la combustión especialmente adaptadas para aplicación por aire, caracterizado porque comprende las etapas de formar una composición concentrada intermedia apropiada para el transporte y el almacenamiento, consistiendo dicha composición concentrada esencialmente en agua, agentes espesantes, una sal electrolítica supresora de la combustión y otros componentes tales como agentes colorantes e inhibidores de la corrosión y después de esto diluir finalmente dicho concentrado con agua adicional para formar la composición final retardadora de la combustión de viscosidad previamente seleccionada, empleándose polifosfatos amónicos líquidos para formar una composición retardadora de la combustión ,estableciéndose la etapa de formar, por íntimo mezclado, una composición que consiste esencialmente en polifosfato amónico líquido, al menos un componente insoluble y no suspendible en polifosfato seleccionado de la clase que consiste en inhibores de la corrosión, agentes espesantes y colorantes, y al menos una cantidad suficiente de arcilla de atapulgita para soportar cada uno de dichos componentes suspendida de modo sustancialmente uniforme en dicho concentrado, en que dichos componentes normalmente insolubles y no suspendidbles están suspendidos y dispersados de modo sustancialmente uniforme en dicha composición retardadora de la combustión.
