Abstract
A device for supporting a cable of circular cross-section, comprising an elongated envelope, an elongated insertion block within said envelope, cooperating means in said block and said envelope to retain both in assembled relationship, said insertion block having a longitudinal slot of substantially semicircular cross section, an elongated wedge block within said envelope and with a longitudinal groove of substantially semicircular cross section and which faces the slot of the insertion block, the groove of said block having one indentation being the groove of said block of substantially smooth insertion, said wedge block being able to slide longitudinally in said envelope, the wedge block and the envelope having cooperating wedge surfaces in such a way that the longitudinal movement of the wedge block in relation to said envelope pushes said wedge block towards said block of insertion, the grooves cooperating to receive a cable and allowing the substantially smooth groove of the insertion block the sliding movement of the cable in it when the latter is tensioned, to move the cable and the wedge block as a whole and carry the indentations of the wedge block into firm holding contact with the surface of the cable, the grooves forming, when said cable is tensioned, an approximately circular cross-section passage substantially conforming to the cable cross-section.
