Abstract

A method of distilling liquid that comprises introducing a liquid priming charge from a closed housing having an open vent at the upper end thereof, filling said housing with said priming charge to exclude from it all free gases, closing said vent, discharging a portion of said priming charge from said housing to produce a vacuum at the top thereof, applying heat to evaporate the liquid to produce vapor at the top of said housing, and condensing said vapor as a distillate of said liquid.
