Abstract
Process for the production of sulfur trioxide by the intermediate absorption catalysis process, characterized in that SO2-containing gases are converted at a temperature of up to approximately 300ºC, first in a fluidized bed of catalytic material, at least up to 60% in SO3, and then, the gases are converted in subsequent stages, into a fluidized or fixed catalytic bed, under the interposition of an intermediate absorption for the elimination of the intermediate SO3, after a conversion of approximately 80% to 95%, in quantitatively possible in SO3.
