Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein X is H or halo n and n1 are each 1, 2 or 3 Z is C 1-3 alkyl or C 2-3 alkenyl and R is a steroid radical of formula wherein A is H, OH or oxo B is H, OH, C 1-5 alkyl or C 2-5 alkenyl X1 is H or halo and Y is H, halo or C 1-5 alkyl and their preparation from the corresponding free 21-hydroxysteroids by reaction with the appropriate acid halide. The inventive compounds are said to possess antiinflammatory activity, and may be made up with carriers into pharmaceutical compositions for oral, parenteral, rectal and topical administration.
