Abstract
A kaleidoscope comprises a base member 1 made of a plastics material, having upstanding therefrom a pair of flat members 8 and 9 also made of a plastics material, meeting at an acute angle and mirrored on their inwardly facing surfaces 15, and a plane member 5 rotatable between the base member and the mirrored members, the line along which the mirrors meet lying along the axis of rotation of the plane member. The base member has a cylindrical boss 2 upstanding therefrom by at least the thickness of the plane member which has a counter-sunk region (3) formed at its upper end which the mirrored members engage for support and exact positioning thereof. The mirrored members are pivotally mounted on the base member by means of a pair of upwardly extending apertured lugs 6 which engage horizontally directed pins 13 formed on the mirrored members or provided on a further pair of lugs 11 and 12 which extend from the mirrored portion of members 8 and 9. The base member, boss and lugs may be a single moulding or plastics material e.g. high impact polystyrene, and the mirrored members may be made of such plastics material as polystyrene or PVC, having a reflecting coating e.g. vacuum deposited aluminium on the one side and a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the other.
