Acetone containing water and methanol as impurities, is purified by contacting it, at a temperature below 50 C. for between 5 and 60 minutes, with a zeolitic molecular sieve in pulverulent or granular form and having a pore diameter greater than or equal to 4 . The acetone may be in the liquid or vapour phase and may be passed continuously over a stationary bed of the molecular sieve.
