Abstract
In a nuclear reactor control system, a large number of control rods are distributed through the reactor core to facilitate flux shaping and the formation of a homogeneous power density. Axial and radial flux peaks are suppressed and power level is adjustable without xenon cycling. The rods are either fully inserted or completely removed from the core and a chemical shim control, using boric acid, may be added.
