Abstract

A cartridge for use in weapons nail, stud or stake drivers slaughter guns cable splicers oil well perforators and open chamber solid or liquid propellant pulse engines for space ship attitude control comprises a cartridge case body 12 of yieldable, non-combustible material, e.g. synthetic plastics, having as cross-section an equilateral curvilinear triangle with convex sides, and side openings 14 between the longitudinal apex edges 44. The body is filled with a solid propellant which fills the side openings and is flush with the outer surfaces of the case, or with a loose grain propellant which is retained by a sheet of propellant. An end wall of the case is provided with a primer 16, Fig. 6. When the cartridge is intended for use in weapons, the other end wall is formed with an opening 50 in which the nose of a bullet 18 is positioned. A plastics obturating sleeve 52, Fig. 6, surrounds the bullet and has its forward end secured in the opening 50.
