Abstract
A television display cathode-ray tube is provided with an implosion barrier by coating the inner side of a metal 6 and/or hood 3 with a glue layer 4 of polyvinyl acetate, allowing the layer to dry, heating the band or hood to between 275 and 320 C. and at this temperature slipping it into position on the tube envelope and filling any space left between the band or hood and the envelope with a hardening filler material 6, e.g. a polyester resin. Preferably a glue layer 5 is also provided on the envelope and a further clamping band 7 arranged around band 3. Cylindrical band 3 may be replaced by a profiled band in the form of a hood partially enclosing envelope cone 2.
