Abstract
Liquid, e.g. radioactive effluent, flows from a distributor 16 into successive tubes 7 held in parallel rings 1, 2 which are mounted on a vertical axis and rigidly secured to a coaxial plate 4 which is rotated discontinuously by motor 13 so that the tubes pass one by one beneath the distributor, and electrical means, including two circular and concentric conductors 37, 38 associated with radial grooves 36 in the plate 4, are provided whereby the distributor is automatically put out of action if any liquid is not received in or not retained by a tube. When all the tubes in a circular row have received liquid, the rings are moved horizontally by electric motor 31. When liquid enters one of the grooves 36, an electric relay cuts out distributor 16, stops the motors and triggers an alarm signal. The liquid may be supplied dropwise by distributor 16, the drops being counted by a counter 19 connected to a light-sensitive cell 18 facing a light source 17. Counter 19 controls the stepwise rotation of the rings.
