Abstract

A 1 ph. electric motor has an auxiliary phase created by one or more permanently closed circuits the or each consisting only of one or more capacitors 19 and one or more prefabricated coils 15, 16 each having a plurality of turns. Whilst in the embodiment shown the two coils are connected in series aiding relationship, they are in Fig. 2 (not shown) each connected solely across a respective capacitor (17, 18).
