Abstract
A compact valve device, comprising: a valve body containing a continuous passage with a valve seat therein, and containing an upwardly directed neck forming a stem receiving cavity therein and a peripheral shoulder in the upper end of said cavity; a cap attached to said body shoulder at the upper end of said cavity; a threaded valve stem, not movable up, in said cavity, having a non-threaded upper end projecting through said cap and having a rotary actuator on said upper end; a valve member threadably attached to the lower end of said rod and retained without rotation in said cavity for vertical movement therein, a and out of application with said seat with rotation of said actuator and rod in opposite directions; characterized by the improvement comprising a collar fixed to said rod next to the upper end of said body cavity, said cap having a low profile and including a stepped peripheral recess means around said stem and adjacent said upper end of body cavity, which includes a first peripheral recess portion immediately adjacent said valve body cavity and extending outwardly beyond said cavity to superimpose a portion of said shoulder, and a second smaller peripheral recess portion adjacent said first part of recess; a free floating thrust pike, with holes, in said first recess part and around said stem, resting on said shoulder, and retained in position by an elastic cap closing ring around said plate in said first part of recess; and an annular thrust collar on said rod, in said second recess part and abutting said thrust plate and said cap.
