Abstract

The simultaneous fixation of reactive and disperse dyes on mixed fabrics of native or regenerated cellulose and high molecular weight linear polyesters or polyamides comprises passing a heated inert gas or steam or mixture of gases or mixture of gas and steam heated to 185-230 C through the fibrous materials which have been padded or printed with perforations containing the dyestuffs and an alkaline substance for fixing the reactive dyestuff. The fabric material is spread upon sieves which act as carrying and transporting elements, the gas being passed through the fabric so that the fabric is pressed into the sieve, in particular rotating cylindrical sieves are employed. Air is preferably used as the heated gas and the fabric may be pre-dried.
