A method and apparatus for the extraction of usable water from the atmosphere, characterized in that it comprises the operations of exposing a hydrophilic material to an atmosphere containing moisture, whose hydrophilic material accumulates said humidity; enclosing said hydrophilic material containing said accumulated moisture in a container having a minimum of closed air space to establish a saturated air condition at a substantially constant temperature; dissociating the moisture collected from the hydrophilic material as aqueous vapor as a result of a lower temperature increase within the closed minimum air space; associating said vapor to form liquid water on a manifold within the minimum air space and transporting said water from said manifold to a water storage tank, said method being carried out at a substantially constant temperature and without air circulation.
