Abstract

A control device for preventing corrosion of a metal structure that is exposed to an electrolyte, which device comprises, in combination, (A) a direct current source having its negative side connected to the structure; (B) an anode connected to the positive side of said current source and exposed to the electrolyte, said anode (1) comprising a metal which as a whole is capable of becoming passive to the passage of the current when it is thus coupled with the positive side of the source of current and with the structure through the electrolyte, after a certain stage of electrochemical action, (2) means for maintaining the anodic activity of the entire surface of the metal that is exposed to the electrolyte, said means comprising iron and silicon in intimate contact with and exposed to the outer surface of said metal.
