Abstract
A system for correcting distortion resulting from the transmission of data at greater than Nyquist rate comprises means for developing on undistorted output in accordance with the level of the received signal and the digital values of one or more previously received digits. When the digit rate is twice the Nyquist rate the binary data transmitted is received as a 5-level signal. In one embodiment threshold units separate the signal to five channels feeding a logic arrangement, which comprises toggles storing the previous two digits, and which develops the undistorted signal. In the other embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), the received signal passes to an analogue subtractor # which is fed by the combined outputs of toggles # 1 , # 2 . storing the two previously received digits and which feeds the first of these toggles. The toggles are gated by a clock signal derived from the received signal.
