Abstract
Method for improving the low temperature ductility properties of a columbium-based alloy, while retaining the structural stability and strength at the same time during manipulation or subsequent service at high temperatures, said alloy containing an additive in an amount sufficient to improve its resistance to rupture and chosen from the group consisting of tungsten, molybdenum and mixtures thereof, characterized by heating the alloy to a temperature of the order of about 982º C to about 1538º C, and subjecting the alloy to a sample of a given cross-sectional area while at this high temperature at forces so as to effect plastic deformation of the alloy whereby the cross-sectional area of the alloy is substantially reduced.
