Process for esterifying in polyoxymethylene solution, with a crystallinity higher than 90%, determined by X-ray examination, which is characterized in that the polyoxymethylene is dissolved at a temperature higher than 170º C, preferably between 175 and 210º C, in the liquid medium containing the esterifying agent, with a solid to liquid ratio comprised between 1: 0.5 and 1:10; the esterification is carried out at a temperature above the crystallization temperature of the polymer, preferably between 135º and 210º C; and the hot solution from the acetylation step is subjected to crystallization of the polymer at a temperature comprised between 100º C and 135º C, cooling being carried out from the esterification temperature to the crystallization temperature by mixing the hot polymer solution with a fluid at a temperature between 0º and 130ºC.
