For this reason, to protect the skin, a series of photoprotective filter substances have been developed that can be used in cosmetic preparations. These UVA and UVB filters are summarized in most industrialized countries in the form of positive lists like Annex 7 of the Cosmetics Regulation.

The plurality of commercially available sunscreen products should not make us forget that these state-of-the-art preparations have a number of disadvantages.

Sunscreens are generally offered to the consumer in the form of emulsions. In addition to the "classic" use, of applying the emulsions directly from the storage container on the skin, there are also a smaller number of applications, in which case the emulsion, for application on the skin, is turned into a foam with the help of a propellant gas. Foamed emulsions have, due to their foam consistency, a special sensation on the skin, which is perceived by users as having a better capacity for distribution on the skin, with a lighter and less sticky sensation on the skin. Users also enjoy the application of the mousse-like texture.

However, in the state of the art, it is disadvantageous that for the preparation of cosmetic emulsion foams, polyethylene glycols and / or derivatives of polyethylene glycol (derivatives of PEG) (these being compounds with functions of alcohol or acid, which are fully or partially etherified or esterified with polyethylene glycols), to keep the foam stable for longer. These PEG derivatives are increasingly unwanted by the consumer, as some scientists deny them health safety. Whether these concerns are scientifically justified remains an open question in the context of the present invention. It is on the other hand a fact that the consumer demands more and more cosmetic products which are "PEG-free".

It has therefore been the aim of the present invention to develop a sensorially attractive cosmetic foam, stable for a longer period, based on a foamed emulsion, which is "PEG-free".

In order to produce a mousse-like foam with pleasant sensory properties, according to the state of the art, mainly non-polar oils are used. However, these have the disadvantage that organic UV filters present as solids at room temperature (in particular triazine derivatives, diethylaminohydroxybenzoylhexyl benzoate and butylmethoxydibenzoylmethane) dissolve only insufficiently, so that it causes difficulties according to the state of the art to incorporate UV filters in sufficient quantity for UV protection in foams. Therefore, it was the aim of the present invention to develop a sensory attractive cosmetic foam with high UV protection.

One of the most common UV filters in the state of the art, used in cosmetics, is octocrylene (ethylhexyl-2-cyano-3,3-diphenyl acrylate). Comparative test :

A formulation prepared according to the claims described in the patent (formulation 1) was tested against a mousse formulation based on the sodium stearoylglutamate / glyceryl stearate emulsifier system (formulation 2). After shaking the aerosol cans to be compared in each case, a defined amount (7 g) per formulation was applied in each case on a watch glass and compared.

In this regard, both the quality of the foam in terms of pore size and the stability of the foam were evaluated.

With the size of the pores it was important to create the smallest possible pores, that is, a fine foam. With regard to stability, it was assessed which formulation generates a more compact and more stable foam (for example, in terms of foam height) and which foam crumbles more quickly. For this, the foams were evaluated at time t = 0 and t = 5 min. After applying the foam to the watch glasses, formulation 1 showed a finer pore foam, more compact and more stable over time. Formulation 2, on the contrary, showed a coarse-pored foam already after a short time, which cracked and had considerably crumbled after the defined period of time.
