Abstract

A conveyor apparatus for transporting loads from one landing to another, comprising an articulated belt comprised of an endless series of substantially identical rigid platforms joined together to allow relative free movement of each pair of adjacent platforms around an axis common, guide means for guiding said belt for movement in a closed path comprising a load transport branch and a return branch each of said platforms having teeth arranged on their side that forms the lower face of the respective platform when it is on said load carrying branch, said teeth extending transversely to the direction of movement of the belt from adjacent opposite longitudinal edges of said side and motor means operable to drive said belt, said motor means being arranged within an end loop of said belt articulated and including a pair of endless drive belts, externally toothed, of elastic material, said drive belts being spaced in substantially parallel relation with respect to each other and maintained in mesh with the teeth of a plurality of said platforms.
