Abstract

A method of obtaining a composite seismic signal having a selected frequency spectrum, comprising: successively generating a plurality of narrow bandwidth seismic waveform, separated in time at a point near the surface of the earth, having each of said waveforms a different center of bandwidth within the chosen frequency spectrum, independently detect and record reflections of each transmitted seismic waveform, and then combine the recorded reflected signals of each seismic waveform, forming thereby in effect a composite seismic signal having a selected frequency spectrum.
