Hair curler body (1, 1a) consisting of an elongate synthetic foam material body (2) with an about axially extending stiffening insert (3), characterised thereby, that the stiffening insert (3) is embedded as wire (11) into the synthetic material during the foaming thereof, both longitudinal ends of the wire being shortened relative to the length of the synthetic foam material body (2) in such a manner that the wire ends within the synthetic foam material body at a spacing from the longitudinal end faces thereof and that the synthetic foam material body (2) consists of synthetic material, which has been foamed during extrusion and is of low density, and that the outer skin of the synthetic foam material body (2) is compacted to a density adequate for the winding-on of hairs.
