Lock for suitcases, wallets and similar applications, constituted by a flat metal box destined to be fixed in the body of the suitcase or similar, and a closing piece destined to be fixed in the lid or analogous part of the suitcase itself and equipped of a tongue capable of being inserted in a window made in one of the lateral faces of said box, characterized in that said plate is provided on its outer face with a window occupied by a tilting plate that by effect of a spring is held in the same plane of said outer face and internally is provided with two projections disposed on the sides parallel to the pivot axis of the plate itself, one of said projections co-operating with a notch made in the tongue of the other part of the lock retaining it in normal position and leaving it free in tilted position, and the other projection with a mechanism equipped with two or more prismatic slides provided ca one of them has a transverse notch on the side adjacent said projection, made in the various slides at different distances from their ends, whose slides slide by effect of corresponding springs in a direction perpendicular to the aforementioned projection presenting to it a solid part to prevent tilting of said plate, and that by means of spikes secured to a separable plate of the lock casing and capable of being inserted therein through holes made in the side wall opposite to that provided with a window, allow to move said slides in the opposite direction to the one in which said springs act, the mentioned spikes being of different length and being supplemented to an equal measure with the solid parts of the respective slides included between their end adjacent to the spikes and the transverse notch, so that when said ears are completely introduced, those referred to scotaduras form a continuous groove in the place of the projection of the tilting plate, allowing the swinging of this.
