Background of the invention

The macroscopic study of the surgical pieces that are sent to the Pathological Anatomy laboratory is the first approach to diagnosis. Obtaining quality images of these pieces allows the cases to be conveniently documented for their study, publication or presentation for clinical, teaching or research purposes.

Small anatomopathological specimens (for example: eyes, ovaries, thyroid ...) allow the taking of macroscopic images that encompass their entire structure.

In daily clinical practice, the following problems occur: the lack of professional photography mechanisms in many laboratories, or their complicated access or use: in many cases the photographs are taken with the mobile phone, with which their quality is altered by the perspective given by the position of the phone and by the shaking if it is held by hand.

Immersing the specimens in alcohol improves the coloration and contrast of the photographs, but reflections from laboratory lighting, the camera or the photographer's hands are produced on the surface of this liquid.

Explanation of the invention

The technique that we propose below allows:

1. - Stabilize the pathological specimens so that they do not move and remain immobile during the photographic process.

2. - Present them on a dark background that improves the contrast of their structures.

3. - Immerse the specimen in alcohol to improve its appearance (coloration and texture).

4. - Illuminate the specimens with diffuse and indirect light.

5. - Avoid reflections on the surface of the alcohol, coming from the lighting, the photographer or the camera.

6. - Stabilize the camera in the zenith axis of the piece avoiding tremors and image distortions.

The device is designed to be used with the camera of any mobile phone.

Preferred embodiment of the invention

The device consists of a box with a white interior, with a lid that can be easily removed and replaced. In the center of said cover there is a hole that must be sufficient for the size of a mobile phone camera. Inside the box, on its floor, four light sources are placed. To facilitate the centering of the specimen, the center of the soil is marked with an "X". A black hemispherical container is placed in the center of said "X". A metal ring is placed in the center of the bottom of this container. 2 cm in diameter (it should not float in the alcohol) .The anatomopathological specimen will be placed on the ring, which will be perfectly stabilized, then the container must be filled with alcohol, completely covering the piece.

The inside of the box lid must also be white, except for a black painted circle whose center will be the hole for the chamber and whose diameter must be greater than that of the inner hemispherical container.

The white walls of the box diffusely reflect light, preventing the reflection of light sources on the surface of the alcohol, and the black circle inside the lid prevents reflections from being observed on the surface of the alcohol.

The mobile phone rests on the outer surface of the case, making the camera coincide with the central hole, which coincides with the zenith axis of the specimen, so that distortions in perspective and shaking are avoided, and can be easily zoomed.

The invention is susceptible to industrial application, due to its simple design and handling, and the potential interest of its use in any pathological anatomy laboratory.

Claims (13)

1. Device for macroscopic photographs of small anatomopathological specimens characterized in that it comprises: - A box open at the top (figure 1-b) - A cap that can be put on and taken off (figure 1-a) - Four light sources (figure 1-c) - A hemispherical container (figure 1-d) - A metal ring (figure 1-e) 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the box has sufficient height to house the rest of the integrating elements, allowing the lid to close properly. 3. Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the inside of the box is white so that the light is reflected in a scattered way. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the center of the floor of the box is indicated by an "x" for the correct centering of the specimens (figure 2a). 5. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that it has a cover with a white interior to reflect light in a scattered way. Device according to claim 5, characterized in that in the center of the cover it has a hole of sufficient diameter to be able to take pictures with the camera of a mobile phone (figure 2b). Device according to claim 5, characterized in that inside the lid there is a black circle centered on the central hole, to avoid reflections on the surface of the alcohol (figure 2b). Device according to claim 1 characterized in that on the floor of the box it has four light sources located in the four corners, leaving the center of the floor free (figure 2a). Device according to claim 1, characterized in that a hemispherical container is placed in the center of the floor of the box with a white interior, the interior of which is black (figure 2a). 10. Device according to claim 9, characterized in that the hemispherical container must be filled with alcohol so that the photograph of the specimen is taken with it completely submerged. Device according to claim 1 characterized in that in the center of the interior floor of the hemispherical container a metal ring with a diameter of two centimeters is placed (figure 2a). Device according to claim 11, characterized in that the pathological specimen is placed on the metal ring, which in this way remains stable inside the hemispherical container. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that once the specimen has been placed on the metal ring, inside the hemispherical container, filled with alcohol, and the lid closed, a mobile phone with a camera is supported on it, so that it It is placed over the hole and through this the photographs are taken in the zenith axis of the piece, avoiding tremors and distortions.
