Abstract
The invention relates to an optical waveguide which consists of an optical fibre having a jacket made from reinforcing yarns set in a resin. The fibres of the reinforcing yarns extend parallel to one another and to the optical fibre, and are of the same length as the latter. In order to render the optical waveguide as tear-resistant and flex-resistant as possible, the optical fibre has a tensile prestress in the axial direction with respect to the jacket. The tensile prestress should be greater than 0.4 N.
