Unidad (8) de manejo para un aparato (1) electrodoméstico, con un alojamiento (9) de elemento de manejo y un elemento (10) de manejo, que está dispuesto de manera que puede girar sobre el alojamiento (9) de elemento de manejo y que, en función de la posición relativa del elemento (10) de manejo con respecto al alojamiento (9) de elemento de manejo, está configurado para ajustar las condiciones de funcionamiento del aparato (1) electrodoméstico, estando configurado un dispositivo (15) de emisión/recepción que funciona ópticamente, con el que puede detectarse la posición relativa del elemento (10) de manejo, presentando el alojamiento (9) de elemento de manejo una plataforma (12), que comprende una elevación (13) central, estando configurada una depresión (18) configurada de manera complementaria en el fondo (17) del elemento (10) de manejo para alojar la elevación (13) en el estado situado sobre la plataforma (12) del elemento (10) de manejo, presentando la plataforma (13) un rebaje (16) continuo, mediante el que el dispositivo (15) de emisión/recepción óptico detecta el fondo (17) del elemento (10) de manejo, caracterizada porque el elemento (10) de manejo presenta un fondo (17) estructurado, y estando dispuesto el dispositivo (15) de emisión/recepción para la detección óptica del fondo (17), estando asociada funcionalmente una región (19, 20) estructural del fondo (17) a una condición de funcionamiento, estando el fondo (17) estructurado de manera diferente desde el punto de vista del color y/o en la rugosidad superficial.
