Abstract

A set or kit (10) for transporting golf clubs (12) in which the set (10) comprises: a conveyor (20) of golf clubs and an aid device for the selection of a club, in which the golf club conveyor (20) has two or more receptacles (21, 22) each to receive a golf club by a relative movement along an axial direction of the golf club, and a rigid cover (50) that it has a door (51) that can be opened in which the relative movement between the receptacles (21, 22) and the door (51) that can be opened causes the golf club conveyor (20) to be arranged in at least two configurations, in which in each arrangement, access to a golf club is provided through the door (51) that can be opened to a different receptacle and access to a golf club to the other receptacles is prevented by the cover (50); characterized in that the aid device for the selection of a club comprises an ejector (53, 54), in which the ejector is operable to cause the golf club stored in a user-selectable receptacle to be raised relative to the clubs without selecting in the axial direction of the golf club, and in which two or more receptacles share a common ejector and the relative movement between the ejector and each common receptacle allows the stick located within the desired receptacle to be lifted and accessible through the door (51) that can be opened.

DESCRIPTION

Improved golf club conveyor

The present invention relates to an improved golf club conveyor and a method for selecting a desired golf club from a transporter. In particular, although not exclusively, the present invention relates to an improved golf bag and a method related thereto.

Golf bags in general are well known and comprise a conveyor divided into several chambers to receive golf clubs, first the handle (ie the handle), through an open top. The golf clubs are generally arranged so that their rods are aligned along a longitudinal axis of the golf club. A lower part of the grip of the golf club rests on a common ground. Different golf clubs have different lengths, which allows the heads of some rods to be stored above the heads of others. In order to prevent the golf clubs from being damaged due to their crushing during transport, it is known to place socks or protectors on the head and the stems of individual golf clubs to protect them from damage.

The heads of golf clubs generally protrude from the top of the golf bag. This allows the numbering of the bottom of each golf club head to be visible to the player when making a selection. In addition, the head of each golf club is visible to the player so that the selection of the appropriate club can also be based on the visual recognition of the club. It has been observed that many players also want the clubs to be visible so that their clubs can be exposed to other golf players.

It is known that golf bags include a flexible rain cover, which can be removed, to protect the sticks and to prevent them from getting wet, which can cause the stems and empunaduras to be sliding. Such covers are generally coupled so that they can be removed to an existing flange around the top of the golf bag and have a zippered opening to allow access to the interior. However, such covers are embarrassing and not very graceful to attach to the bag and reduce the visibility of the sticks, particularly those farthest from the opening.

The rules of golf establish, when playing, that a bag cannot contain more than 14 clubs. These can be a selection of woods, and irons and putters (sticks that are used to push the ball into the hole) depending on the preference of each individual player. When on the course, players transport the golf bag so that they have the complete selection of clubs to choose from when they reach each particular shot or hit.

When a player approaches his ball, he evaluates the conditions, distance and trajectory that he wants the ball to follow and subsequently makes a mental decision as to which club to play that ball with. Once you have made your decision, select the appropriate stick, make your shot and put the stick back in the bag. The player then transports the golf bag to the next shot, which can be a matter of meters or up to several hundred meters.

When you are on the golf course, it is desirable to avoid "slow play" at all times. Thus it is important that players do not spend unnecessary time selecting the right club from their golf bag.

Although players may arrange their clubs at the beginning of the game so that they are in a known order, as the player progresses around the course, the clubs may be disorganized and thus the player must search the golf bag each time it has to be selected. A stick in the bag. In addition, the heads of the golf clubs in front can hide the clubs behind them, thus making a quick selection more difficult.

Document US2006 / 0138161 describes a golf bag that aids in the selection of the club by ejecting a desired club into the air. The golf bag is endowed with a plurality of steel tubes provided with mobile cylinder coupled to elastic cords. The cylinders are held in place by a remote-operated latch. When actuated, the sear releases the cylinders, causing the golf clubs that rest on them to force out of the tubes, throwing the golf clubs into the air. By placing the ejected golf clubs back into the tube against the forces of the elastic band, the system can be restarted for a subsequent launch. Although the description may improve the selection of clubs in the golf bag, it is desirable to avoid the possibility of causing damage to the clubs. For example when the bag is transported along a path, it is possible that when a stick with a relatively short rod is ejected, because the head may be positioned at least partially under a head of a stick with a relatively more rod long, there is a risk that the ejected golf club hits hard on another club, thereby damaging the club or causing both clubs to be ejected. In addition, it is known that the straps of the golf bag are broken when transported or when a golf bag overturns. As such there is a risk that the sticks can be emptied of the steel tubes. Protecting the user and the surrounding environment from moving parts and flying golf clubs is also a primary issue.

Players can choose to transport the golf bag by hand along the course. However, it is also known that golf bags are attached to golf carts or golf buggies. In this case, the selection is more difficult because the player usually sees the golf bag from one aspect, thus exacerbating the

difficulty when the sticks closest to the player hide the sticks behind.

US 4245684 describes a golf bag that has annular housing for golf clubs and a housing cover that includes a housing door member to allow access to golf clubs. The housing cover is manually rotated to a predetermined segment to allow access to a particular golf club.

It is a purpose of the present invention to solve at least one of the above problems or other identified problems.

It is another purpose of the invention to provide a golf carrier and a method for selecting a golf club from a golf bag that allows a player to select a desired golf club from the golf bag more quickly and more conveniently.

In accordance with the present invention, an apparatus and method have been provided as described in the appended claims. Other features of the invention will be apparent from the dependent claims, and from the description that follows.

According to a first aspect, a set or kit has been provided for transporting golf clubs in which the assembly comprises a golf club conveyor for storing two or more golf clubs; and an aid device for the selection of a club, in which an aid device for the selection of a club can be used to highlight or highlight a desired golf club.

In an exemplary embodiment each golf club is received in a receptacle. Thus the golf club carrier has two or more receptacles. In this particular embodiment the golf club carrier includes a rigid cover. The roof cover has a door that can be opened. Here, the relative movement between the receptacles and the door that can be opened causes the golf club conveyor to be arranged in at least two configurations. In each configuration, access of a golf club through the door that can be opened is provided to a different receptacle and access of a golf club to the other receptacles to which access has been provided is prevented by the cover . Consequently, the golf club conveyor can be provided so that a desired golf club is accessible through the door that can be opened. Here the aid device for the selection of a club subsequently highlights the desired golf club.

In an alternative exemplary embodiment, the golf club carrier comprises at least two receptacles. Each receptacle is suitable for receiving a golf club so that it can be stored. In this embodiment, the aid device for the selection of a stick comprises an ejector that is capable of being configured to eject a stick stored in a user-selectable receptacle. The ejector is controlled to make the selected golf club protrude higher than the unselected clubs. Here two or more receptacles share a common ejector and the relative movement between the ejector and each common receptacle allows the stick located within the given receptacle to be lifted. Preferably, the golf club carrier includes a rigid cover that has a door that can be opened. Here the door that can be opened is aligned with the ejector and fixed in relation to it. Thus the golf club conveyor can be arranged in at least two configurations. In each configuration, access of a golf club through the door that can be opened is provided to a different receptacle and access of a golf club to the other receptacles to which access has been provided is prevented by the cover . Consequently, the golf club conveyor can be arranged so that a desired golf club is accessible through the door that can be opened. Here the aid device for the selection of a club subsequently highlights the desired golf club by lifting it using the ejector.

In exemplary embodiments, the aid device for the selection of a stick preferably comprises a user interface. Suitably, the user interface includes at least two selectors. Here, each selector corresponds to a golf club stored in the golf club carrier. The operation of a selector makes the aid device for the selection of a stick highlight the corresponding stick. Preferably the user interface is separated from the golf club conveyor. Here, the user interface communicates wirelessly with a receiver on the golf club carrier.

In exemplary embodiments, the user interface is suitably a portable unit. Preferably, the portable unit is sized to fit in a user's pocket. The user interface can also be incorporated into other electronic equipment used by a golfer. The user interface adequately communicates wirelessly with a receiver of a golf club carrier. Each selector can be marked with an appropriate mark to identify the stick to which the selector corresponds.

In exemplary embodiments, the golf club conveyor comprises an aid device for selecting a club that visually alerts the user of the desired club. Suitably, the golf club conveyor comprises at least two receptacles, each for storing a golf club. Thus, for example, the aid device for selecting a stick can comprise an ejector that ejects a stick stored in the receptacle determined by the user interface so that it protrudes higher than the unselected sticks. Suitably, an ejector may be provided under each receptacle. Here each receptacle can have a door that is

can open corresponding. Alternatively, two or more receptacles may share a common ejector. Here, a door that can be opened can be provided above each common ejector. The relative movement between the ejector and each common receptacle can allow the stick located within the receptacle determined by the user interface to be lifted. Preferably the receptacles are arranged so that in each frame it is stored in a circumferential location. Here, the aid device for the selection of a stick includes a means of rotation for rotating at least one of the ejector or the receptacles relatively between them. It is advantageous if the receptacles are rotated as here, the desired stick is always ejected in the same location previously defined in relation to the position of the golf club conveyor. When the receptacles are rotated so that the desired receptacle is in a previously defined location before ejection, the aid device for the selection of a stick can additionally or alternatively to the ejector comprise a lighting means to alert the user that the correct stick receptacle is being aligned in the previously defined location. Thus, only one door is provided that can be opened in the roof covering corresponding to the previously defined location. It is advantageous for golf clubs to be rotated to a predetermined position since this allows the golfer to know exactly where to look.

Suitably, the golf club conveyor comprises an upper section. The upper section may comprise two or more tubes, each tube forming a receptacle. The tubes can be arranged around a central axis. Thus the upper section can be rotatable around the central axis. The golf club conveyor may also comprise a lower section. The lower section can rotatably mount the upper section. The lower section may include a means of rotation. The lower section may include the ejector. The lower section can remain stationary in relation to a surface that is supported by it.

In exemplary embodiments, the aid device for selecting a stick includes a receiver to receive a control signal from a user interface. The control signal determines the desired receptacle to be highlighted. The receiver can be wireless.

The golf club carrier may be incorporated in a golf bag. That is, the golf club carrier can be inserted into a housing. The accommodation may include the fixed cover that is fixed in relation to the lower section. The covered cover may prevent access to the receptacles. Here, the nidged cover includes an opening, through which a golf club can be removed. When the golf club conveyor includes a rotating means that rotates the desired receptacle to a predefined position, the opening indicates the predetermined location. Thus the cover protects a user from the movement of golf clubs.

In accordance with a second aspect of the present invention, a golf club conveyor has been provided comprising at least two receptacles each for receiving a single golf club and an assistive device for the selection of a controllable club that is controllable by a user interface to highlight a golf club stored in a receptacle determined by the user interface. Thus a golf conveyor has been provided for use in the whole of the first aspect.

In accordance with a third aspect of the present invention, a user interface has been provided to control an assistive device for the selection of a club of a golf club conveyor in which the user interface includes, at least two actionable buttons, each button being operable to control an aid device for the selection of a club of a golf club conveyor to make a golf club stored in a receptacle corresponding to said actuating button stand out.

According to a fourth aspect, a method of selecting a golf club from a golf club transporter has been provided, the method comprising making a desired golf club stored within a golf club transporter be emphasized, and subsequently remove the desired golf club from the golf club conveyor by moving the golf club through a door that can be opened in a rigid deck. The method may comprise operating a user interface to make the desired stick be highlighted. The method may comprise having a help device for the selection of a club of a golf club conveyor visually highlight the desired club. The method may comprise causing the desired golf club to be lifted up from the other stored clubs. The method may comprise spinning an upper section of the golf club conveyor that stores the golf clubs relative to a lower section, such that the desired club is moved to a predetermined location. The method may comprise using height unification means to cause the heads of each golf club to be stored at a common height.

According to another aspect, a means of height unification for a golf club conveyor has been provided. The height unification means comprise a plate that can be detachably attached to a golf club conveyor. The plate includes an opening to receive a grip of a golf club and a positioning means for retaining a head of a golf club in a desired position relative to the plate. The height unification means may preferably include height adjustment inserts. Advantageously the height unification means are adaptable for individual golfers or for individual club manufacturers.

It will be appreciated that although the height unification means can be used to improve any golf club conveyor, they are particularly suitable for previous embodiments.

With reference to fig. 1, a set 10 for transporting golf clubs 12 has been shown. The set comprises a golf club conveyor 20 and a user interface 30. The golf club conveyor 20 includes two receptacles 21,22 each to receive a golf club 12 such that golf clubs can be removed from the receptacles by moving the clubs relative to a length of the tubes. The golf club conveyor 20 also includes an aid device for the selection of a club comprising means for making it stand out, in which the means for making it stand out are controlled to make the golf club 12 stored inside or of the first stand out. receptacle 21 or the second receptacle 22. The aid device for selecting a stick makes the stick stand out by attracting a user's attention to the stick. The operation of the first button causes a transmitter 34 of the user interface 30 to transmit a wireless control signal to the receiver 41. The signal instructs the aid device for the selection of a club to highlight the golf club stored within the first receptacle 21. Thus the golfer can immediately select the correct stick of the golf club carrier. The actuation of the second operable button 32 makes the aid device for the selection of a club highlight the other golf club. For example, the aid device for selecting a club can cause the desired golf club to be ejected or lifted above the other club. Alternatively or additionally, the aid device for the selection of a stick can cause a lighting means to highlight the desired stick or the door that can be opened that contains the desired stick.

Advantageously, the rigid hood that has doors that can be opened is more convenient than the flexible hoods known for rain protection. In addition, because the aid device for the selection of a stick makes the desired stick stand out, the stick selection is faster compared to flexible bells known against the rain that only hide the stick selection. Consequently, because the bell has a door that can be opened, it is possible to quickly identify a desired stick, it is not necessary to remove the bell during dry weather. Consequently, the possibility of the stick being wet while it rains is reduced because there is no delay between the beginning of the rain and the fact that the flexible bell is fixed to the bag.

A preferable method of highlighting the desired stick is to make the stick protrude through the respective door that can be opened in the bell. As shown in fig. 2, this is achieved by providing an ejector 53, 54 below each receptacle 51, 52, in which each ejector is selectively actuated by the receiver 41 to lift the golf club stored within the respective receptacle. When the golf club 12 rises, it abuts the door 51 that can be opened, which in this case pivots upwards. Thus, the stop makes the door open. The selected stick 12 is therefore immediately apparent to the golfer.

It is advantageous to reduce the number of components inside the golf bag in order to save costs and also reduce weight. Therefore, a single ejector is provided to selectively eject sticks from within two or more receptacles. This can be achieved by moving the ejector in relation to two or more receptacles. However, to further improve the selection speed, particularly when the golf bag is carried in a golf buggy, it is preferred that the receptacles move relative to the golf bag. Thus, the desired stick can be ejected from a common point. Consequently, it is necessary to provide a single ejector and only one door that can be opened. Again, additionally or alternatively to the ejector, the means for highlighting can be used visually to indicate when the desired stick is ready to be removed from the door that can be opened.

With reference to fig. 3, a second embodiment of a conveyor 20 of golf clubs has been shown. The golf club conveyor 20 includes a plurality of receptacles, such as tubes 23. Any number of tubes greater than two may be provided. Suitably, however, the number of tubes can be around 14 since this is the current maximum number of clubs that are allowed to be carried according to golf rules. Each tube 23 forms a receptacle for receiving a handle and a rod of a golf club. In a lower part of the tube, the inner diameter narrows to form a ledge or ledge 85. The ledge 85 allows the end of the stick to rest on it. The tubes 23 are positioned parallel to each other and extend upwards. The tubes 23 are arranged in a circumferential location (as shown in Fig. 4). The tubes 23 are formed in one piece with an upper plate 24 and a lower plate 25 to form an upper section 29. In a center of the circumference in which the tubes are located, the upper and lower plates include an opening. The upper and lower plates include annular flanges 26, 27 turned towards each other. The annular flanges include latches 28 that block the upper section of a rod 50. Thus, the rotation of the rod 50, rotates the tubes 23.

The rod 50 is rotatably mounted in a lower section 60. Here the lower section 60 includes two spaced frame plates 61, 62. Each frame plate 61, 62 includes a central opening through which the rod 50 extends. Central opening of each frame plate 61, 62 has an annular flange 63, 64 turned outward. Combined radial thrust bearings 65, 66 cooperate with the ring flanges and rod 50 to rotatably support rod 50 and upper section 29.

A motor 70 is secured to the lower side of the lower frame plate 62. Suitably, the engine 70 is an electric motor, such as a Valeo (RTM) 12vdc gear motor. Thus, a bat means (not shown) are also housed within the lower section. It will be appreciated that the batena means will be advantageously rechargeable in a well known manner. The engine 70 includes a gear that cooperates with one end of the rod 50 to rotate the rod. As will be appreciated, the motor is required to rotate the rod 50 to discrete locations such that in each location a tube is placed in a predetermined position. As such it is necessary that the motor includes control means such as a controller, relay, proximity sensor and encoder. Such control means act in a well known way to rotate the rod between a number of discrete locations.

The two frame plates 61, 62 are separated by spacers 67 secured between the two frame plates. Located in the space between the two plates 61, 63 there are means for highlighting such as an ejector 80. The ejector 80 is positioned under a tube 23. Suitably, the ejector 80 comprises a vertical linear actuator that is controllable to make raising and lowering a stop member 82. When in the lowered position (as shown) the stop member 82 is free of the upper section such that the upper section is free to rotate. When in the raised position the stop member 82 extends through the lowermost opening 84 of the tube 23. The stop member 82 ascends higher than the shoulder 85, thereby abutting with the end of a golf club stored in tube 23. Thus the golf club is forced to be lifted upwards. Alternatively, a linear actuator can be mounted substantially perpendicular to the receptacles in order to reduce the size of the apparatus. Aqrn, a stop member (which can be separated from the actuator) is flexible and is restricted within a curved tube in order to lift the stick up. Alternatively, other known mechanisms may be used in order to move the stop member up and down relative to the receptacles. For example, ejector 80 may comprise a zipper and pinon. Here an engine is intended to drive a pinon in any known way. The zipper is connected to a stopper member or forms it to move the golf club. Thus the rotation of the pinon in one direction causes the rack to lift the golf club and the movement in the other direction causes the rack to lower the golf club.

Due to manufacturing and control tolerances, it is not always possible to rotate the tube to exactly match the ejector. Thus, to compensate for this, as shown in fig. 4, the diameter of the stop member 82 is sized so that it is smaller than the lower opening 84. Thus, any misalignment is taken into account. In addition, the walls of the opening and the tip of the abutment member are conical. Thus, if the abutment member abuts the tube, the conicity acts to push the abutment member so that it is more coincident with the tube and therefore continues to lift instead of pushing hard against the tube.

With reference to fig. 5, in use, a user interface 40 sends a control signal to a receiver 41. In turn the receiver 41 controls the motor to rotate the rod 50 a desired degree of angular rotation such that the desired tube is aligned above the ejector. Once aligned, the ejector is operated to push the stored golf club inside the tube upwards. Thus the desired golf club is forced to stand out from the other stored golf clubs and a golfer can easily select the correct club. As the location of the button corresponding to the golf club is fixed in relation to the user interface, the golfer will quickly become familiar with the implantation and will be able to actuate the desired button quickly. Thus, instead of searching through a number of clubs, the golfer can select the correct club by pressing the button corresponding to that club and then picking up the club raised in relation to the others. In addition, because the desired club has been rotated to a predefined position, the golfer knows exactly where the club will be.

Once the golfer has played his stroke, the club can be returned to the ford tube 23. A default button on the user interface can then be operated to cause the ejector to descend, thus allowing the club to fall under the action. of gravity to be stored inside the tube. Alternatively, the ejector can be

forced to descend after a specific time interval. The time interval may be between 2 and 10 seconds and preferably approximately 5 seconds. Consequently, the stick is lifted for a sufficient time to remove the stick, but is in the lowered position when the user arrives to return the stick after having played his stroke. As such, the user can simply insert the stick without pressing other buttons or taking another action. When another club is desired, the golfer activates the corresponding button. Here an encoder on the motor 70 determines where the desired tube is in relation to the tube aligned with the ejector and rotates the rod, in one direction or the other, in the required angular degree so that the new desired stick is aligned with the ejector, and the stick is raised as before.

As a safety feature, the power supply to the motor can be disconnected when the ejector is in the raised position. In addition, the golf club carrier may be enclosed within a housing (not shown). The housing can give the golf club carrier the appearance of a traditional golf bag. The housing may include the nigid bell (not shown) such that the heads of the golf clubs are stored below the nigid bell. Here the nidged bell has a unique opening, located above the ejector, through which the sticks can be removed. Thus a golfer cannot access the heads of the clubs when they turn except through the opening. Like another feature, the opening can be opened. For example, an articulated upward door can be provided. Here, the door can be lifted and lowered manually to remove and replace the golf clubs. Alternatively, the door can be elastically loaded to the closed position. When the golf club is raised, the head of the golf club can butt with the articulated door and push it open. Alternatively, the door can be automated. The cover may include a sensor so that the supply to the conveyor is cut when the door is not fully closed.

As an additional feature, the golf club conveyor may include an illuminator, such as a light. The light can be turned on when the ejector is in the raised position. Thus, the ejector may not be required to lift the stick out of the cover opening. Instead, the golfer is advised that the correct club is ready to be removed from the conveyor by lighting the light. In this case the conveyor may not even include the ejector.

In alternative embodiments, instead of rotating the tubes, the golf club conveyor may be provided to rotate the ejector and, when necessary, the cover. Here the ejector is secured to the rod 50 instead of to the upper section. In yet another embodiment, the golf club conveyor includes an ejector aligned under each tube. Thus no means of rotation are required. Instead, the operation of a button on the user interface causes the corresponding ejector under the desired tube to lift the stick.

As all embodiments require that the golf club conveyor be fed with electronic means, the golf club transporter may be further adapted to include other fed features such as a refrigerated chamber for storing food or drink.

With reference to fig. 6, a conveyor 220 of golf clubs has been shown. The golf club conveyor 220 includes at least 1 receptacle (222, 221) for receiving a golf club 212. Height unification means are provided. Here the height unification means comprise a removable plate 260. The detachable platform 260 is detachably fixed to the golf club conveyor and fixed relative to each receptacle (221, 222). The removable platform 260 includes an opening aligned with each receptacle and a locating means. The opening is sized so that it allows the golf club rod to enter but restricts a head of the golf club from passing through it. The location means are provided to keep the head of the golf club in position. For example, contours are provided to restrict the head of the golf club from moving relative to the removable plate 260.

Advantageously, the removable platform can be printed with advertising and can be custom designs for a particular set of sticks.

In addition, the height unification means allow the heads of the sticks to be placed at a common height. This allows a user to more easily identify the desired stick. In addition, the detachable platform may include visible indicators to clearly identify a specified receptacle. For example, each receptacle may include a corresponding visual identifier such as a letter or number. Thus, the golfer has a larger identifier to search. Also, the golfer can more easily ensure that a stick is inserted in the correct receptacle thereby retaining the sticks in an order, in addition to simplifying the selection process.

Each location medium is ideally configured to retain golf clubs in a design. It will be appreciated that in order for the height unification means to be used to improve the above embodiments, the receptacles must be arranged in a circumferential path.
