Abstract
Un procedimiento para optimizar la calidad de reproducción de multimedia para un dispositivo de computación inalámbrico de mano (200), comprendiendo el procedimiento: recibir (505) un meta-objeto (402) que describe multimedia a descargar en el dispositivo de computación inalámbrico de mano a través de una red de comunicaciones (206), en donde el multimedia comprende una pluralidad de segmentos de tiempo (212) teniendo cada segmento de tiempo una pluralidad de segmentos de archivo disponibles a diferentes combinaciones de tasa de bit y resolución, en donde la pluralidad de segmentos de archivo disponibles incluye una pluralidad de segmentos de archivo a diferentes tasas de bit para una determinada resolución y una pluralidad de segmentos de archivo en diferentes resoluciones para una tasa de bit determinada; revisar (510) opciones para las diferentes combinaciones de tasas y resolución de bit que se describen en el meta-objeto; evaluar (525) datos de un subsistema de aplicación (102); evaluar (535) datos de un subsistema de módem (133); y seleccionar (550) cualquier segmento de archivo para su descarga que optimiza la reproducción multimedia en el dispositivo informático inalámbrico de mano basándose en las diferentes combinaciones de tasa de bit y de resolución y los datos recibidos de al menos uno del subsistemas de aplicaciones y de módem.
