Abstract

When tempering a glass sheet supported horizontally in a. bending mould, using apparatus such, for example, as described in Specification 771,036, the fluid blasts applied below the sheet are arranged to exert a force on the sheet greater than that exerted by those applied above by an amount less than the weight of the sheet. This may be achieved by arranging the lower jets closer to the sheets or supplying them with greater fluid pressure, or both.
