Process for obtaining porous molded objects, mainly of cellular structure, of polyvinyl compounds, according to which separate particles of a polyvinyl compound containing gas dissolved under pressure are introduced in a perforated mold, said particles being heated at a temperature above the softening point of the polyvinyl compound, so that the heating causes the separated particles to expand by said gas under pressure and agglutinate forming a porous article of the shape and dimension of the mold cavity, the size being such of the cavity of the mold and the amount of the polyvinyl compound, which when dilating the latter completely fills the mold and exerts a pressure on the internal walls thereof.
