Abstract

A plate (13) is provided for a domestic appliance, where the plate (13) is translucent, and has at least one cover (17-20) as a layer next to a first lateral surface (14) and a second lateral surface (15), and where the cover (17-20) is a one-piece cover, which also extends over a narrow side (16) of the plate (13), and next to the first lateral surface (14) of the plate (13) has a greater width (21) than next to the second lateral surface (15) of the plate (13). A domestic appliance, in particular, cooking appliance (11), has at least one plate (13).

Statement motivated according to articles 29.6 and 29.7 of the Regulations for the execution of Law 11/1986, of March 20, on Patents on novelty and inventive activity; quotes and explanations in support of this statement The invention refers to a plate for a domestic appliance, as well as the domestic appliance, in particular cooking appliance, which incorporates it. The plate has a cover that extends over a narrow side of the plate and has a greater width on one of the two lateral surfaces on which it also extends as a layer (ie, it has a "U" shaped section with one side more extensive than the other and is located on the edge of the plate). The application consists of 12 claims, the first eleven being dedicated to the plate itself, defining alternative configurations for use as a door, front plate or directly as a cooking field cover; while claim number twelve has as its object the domestic appliance that incorporates it. Among the documents cited in the report on the state of the art, are US4166207 (D01), which would affect the requirement of novelty for claims 1-2, 9, 12, in addition to affecting the requirement of inventive activity for claims 1-10 and 12; and document ES2331777 (D02) which would in itself affect the patentability requirements of claims 1, 6-7 and 11-12, as explained below: Claims 1-2, 9, 12 Document D01 (see col. 4, line 50 -col. 7, line 44; figs. 1-2) discloses a plate (22-24, references in brackets refer to D01) for the door (14) of a domestic cooking appliance (specifically microwave, 11), where the plate is translucent (which is implied by the superposition of a glass panel 22 with layers 23 and 24), and presents at least one cover (18, 34) as a layer next to a first lateral surface (24) and a second lateral surface (16); where the cover is formed of a piece, which also extends over a narrow side of the plate (22-24), and next to the first lateral surface (24) of the plate has a greater width than next to the second surface side (16) of the plate. In addition, the cover (18, 34) shows on its outer side away from the plate a different optical appearance to its inner side directed to the plate (since the combination of layers 23 and 24 on which it is influenced influences said optical appearance extend the cover). The object of the invention set forth in claims 1-2, 9 and 12 has been disclosed identically in document D01. Therefore, these claims are included in the prior art and would not meet the requirements of novelty, Art. 6.1 of Patent Law 11/1986 (LP), or inventive activity, Art. 8.1 LP. Claims 3-8, 10 Claims 3 to 8, and 10, do not comprise additional technical characteristics that provide the degree of inventive activity necessary against the prior art. The characteristics described, relating to the combination of different colors or materials to produce aesthetic effects, are considered to be obvious design alternatives for the person skilled in the art. As for the use of adhesives to fix the cover, it is a known alternative; by way of example you can consult your employment, for similar applications, in the documents: ES2157492T (D04), US2006273700 (D05) or US2005116385 (D06). That is why said claims 3 to 8, and 10 would not imply an inventive activity (Art. 8.1 LP). Claim 11 As for claim 11, document ES2331777 (D02) already discloses a plate, which itself has the function of cover or surface for a cooking field, where the plate is translucent and in turn has a cover as of layer next to a first lateral surface and a second lateral surface; and where said cover is one piece, also extending on a narrow side of the plate, so that next to the first side surface of the plate It has a greater width than next to the second lateral surface. The object of the invention set forth in claim 11 (as well as in claims 1 and 12) has been disclosed identically in document D02. Therefore, these claims are included in the prior art and would not meet the requirements of novelty, Art. 6.1 of Patent Law 11/1986 (LP), or inventive activity, Art. 8.1 LP.  WRITTEN OPINION Finally, documents US2003183617 (D03), ES2157492T (D04) and US2006273700 (D05) also assume priorities that would affect the patentability requirements of the object of the invention, since they disclose plates for household appliances with a cover as a layer it extends on the lateral surfaces close to the edge of the plate, said cover having a "U" shaped cross section with one of its sides more extensive than the other.
