Means comprising a body 46 and a threaded member 47 are provided to cause movement of the pin 43 axially of the tube 41 to cause a conical end 44 of the pin 43 to spread or splay the tube parts which are created by said slots 42. Said means are also operable, in an opposite sense, to effect extraction of the nail unit.
