Procedimiento para detectar un objeto con un sistema de posicionamiento por satélite (7), que incluye las siguientes etapas: - transmisión de una indicación de posición desde un equipo terminal (8) asociado al objeto (6) hasta un sistema de detección, presentando dicho sistema de detección al menos una unidad de computación (9) e incluyendo dicho sistema de detección al menos un mapa digital de un área geográfica en el que al menos un tramo del área geográfica tiene superpuesta al menos una marcación (1) que incluye al menos dos puntos de definición (2, 3), caracterizado porque para detectar el objeto (6) en el tramo del área geográfica se utiliza una superficie de entrada variable (11, 11'') definida en relación con una indicación de posición transmitida, y se comprueba sí al menos un punto de definición (2, 3) de la marcación (1) se encuentra dentro de la superficie de entrada (11, 11'').
