De manera centrada con los citados cuerpos (2) y (3) y por su interior, se ubica el mecanismo de prensado, el cual consiste en una camisa cilíndrica (6) con un tramo anterior (7) de menor medida que el posterior (8), mientras que el tramo central (9) adquiere forma troncocónica, habiéndose previsto que dicha camisa (6), sea a base de material laminar perforado, bien por múltiples perforaciones cilíndricas, bien por perforaciones longitudinales y paralelas entre sí. En el tramo posterior (8) de la antes citada camisa (6) y en su parte superior, es situada la entrada (10) por la cual acceden los lodos o fangos procedentes de la instalación, siendo a partir de este momento cuando se inicia el prensado de los lodos, por medio de la espiral (11) progresiva a modo de tornillo sin fin, la cual en su tramo final y merced a su forma troncocónica y al acercamiento de sus aletas determina el prensado total, proporcionando por una parte a los lodos con una textura un tanto sólida, a través del extremo anterior (12) de la camisa (6), mientras que el agua residual semi reciclada sale por el conducto (5) correspondiente al cuerpo anterior (2). La anteriormente citada espiral (11) efectúa su giro dentro de la camisa (6) gracias a la colaboración del eje central (13), el cual es accionado por medio del motorreductor (14) que se encuentra en el extremo posterior de la citada camisa (6), mientras que en su extremo opuesto o anterior (12) se ha situado un émbolo (15), el cual es desplazado por los sólidos prensados, a pesar de la fuerza de oposición que ejerce el cilindro hidráulico (16).
