Abstract
The gas-phase visible U.V. molecular absorption gas cell has a stainless steel donor chamber (1) and acceptor chamber (2) system with a membrane (17) between them, and replaces the commercial cell. The volatile compounds and volatilisable compounds generated e.g. by heating are transferred to chamber (2) via the membrane, for absorption measurement via quartz windows (11,12). EMBODIMENT - An electric resistor in an aperture (3) permits automated determination of volatiles in a solid or liquid matrix by direct spectrometry.
