Abstract

El nuevo dispositivo de interacción táctil en elementos no textuales para personas con deficiencias visuales permite a personas con discapacidades visuales percibir la información visual de una interfaz de usuario de un computador mediante el uso de un sistema mecánico basado en cilindros regulables en altura, con flujo de aire y con detectores de presión. El nuevo dispositivo convierte la información visual de los dispositivos de visualización de dos dimensiones en información volumétrica perceptible por los usuarios con discapacidades visuales a través del sentido del tacto. Hasta ahora sólo podían acceder a información textual a través de lectores braille. Permite comunicar dispositivos comerciales ya existentes con los que los usuarios están familiarizados y la utilización de dispositivos específicos a través de conexiones estándar. El usuario puede recibir la información de forma volumétrica, la situación del dispositivo apuntador y al mismo tiempo puede realizar acciones sobre esta información y comunicársela al computador.
