Abstract

Proceso para tratar una bentonita que tiene un contenido de montmorillonita de por lo menos el 85 % que, cuando se activa con iones de sodio, se seca y se tritura, no se hincha en un factor mayor que 2, 5 cuando se añade gradualmente a agua desionizada a temperatura ambiente, y cuando se machaca, se seca y se calcina para obtener una LoI menor que el 4 % a 190°C absorbe entre un 16 y un 22 % en peso de agua en un entorno controlado a 25°C y una humedad relativa del 40 % en peso, comprendiendo el proceso las siguientes etapas en el siguiente orden: (i) secado hasta obtener un contenido de humedad comprendido entre el 25 y el 35 % en peso; (ii) acondicionamiento mediante machacado, mezclado y/o extrusión; (iii) adición de agua para formar una pasta extruíble que tiene un contenido de humedad comprendido entre el 25 y el 40 % en peso; (iv) extrusión a través de una matriz con un diámetro comprendido preferentemente entre 4 y 10 mm; (v) secado hasta obtener un contenido de humedad comprendido entre el 10 y el 14 % en peso; (vi) calcinación entre 120 y 250°C hasta obtener una LoI menor que el 4 % a 190°C; y (vii) reducción a partículas.
