Abstract

Generating desired values for a numerically controlled machine required for processing a complex three-dimensional cutting curve, such as when two cylinders penetrate one another, requires a time-consuming learning process which makes the whole process much more complicated than the purely mathematical approach, which does not involves too much computing time. First one of the of the two geometric bodies is formed by projection onto a surface (16) so that a two-dimensional basic surface is formed. The basic surface (18) is then described by two-dimensional pairs of values (Xli,Yli) and the value (Zli) forming the third dimension of the cutting curve (14) is then determined by using the two-dimensional pairs of values. At least one desired value is determined, depending on the value-pairs (Xli,Yli,Zli).
