Abstract

Use of lactic acid bacteria in the preparation of fermented milks used to treat temporarily reduced levels of immune activity. This invention refers to a new use of lactic acid bacteria in the preparation of fermented milks used to treat temporarily reduced levels of immune activity by recovering depressed levels of immune activity with respect to the level that may be regarded as normal, above all, in healthy individuals who have been subject to intense exertion, or in general, to raised levels of physiological demand, as a direct result of physical exertion, or caused by psychologically tense situations.< IMAGE >Administration of a fermented milk containing Lactobacillus casei to achieve a simultaneous less pronounced decrease in the level of immune activity and a more rapid restoration of this level in individuals in athletes or other individuals in a satisfactory state of health engaging in intensive training and/or sporting trials : Lactic acid bacteria are used in the preparation of fermented milks, for the prevention and treatment of temporarily-depressed immune levels in individuals subjected to physiological stress.
