Abstract
Procedimiento para el pretratamiento de agua de mar destinada a desalación por ósmosis inversa. El procedimiento comprende: (a) captar agua de mar mediante toma abierta; (b) añadir permanganato potásico, en el punto de captación del agua de mar, en una cantidad adecuada para eliminar o reducir sustancialmente la materia orgánica y la materia viva presente en el agua de mar bruta captada; (c) neutralizar el exceso de permanganato potásico con un reductor adecuado antes de que el agua de mar entre en los filtros de arena; y, si fuera necesario, (d) ajustar el pH del agua de mar tratada con permanganato potásico y el reductor, procedente de los filtros de arena, a aproximadamente 7, antes de que entre en los filtros de afino. El agua así pretratada tiene un valor de SDI muy inferior a 4 (ASTM D-4189-82) y es adecuada como alimentación de la línea de producción de agua desalada mediante ósmosis inversa.Procedure for the pretreatment of seawater intended for desalination by reverse osmosis. Water so pretreated has a value of SDI much lower than 4 (ASTM D-4189-82) and is suitable for feeding the desalinated water production line by reverse osmosis.
