Abstract

Process in which waste particles which contain more than 85% by weight of iron oxides and are less than 250 [mu] in size are mixed in a homogenizer with a carbon-based reducing compound with a degree of carbon purity of 80- 98% and in particles smaller than 250 [mu] with between 1 and 4% by weight of a slag-forming agent and with an organic binder, there being 12-20 wt% of the reducing compound, 1.5-4 wt% of the binder in the mixture in the mixer, the remainder being powder from the steelworks. Applicable in the iron and steel industry.
