Abstract

The appts. accelerates the switching on process between a stationary electric contact (11) and a movable electric contact (12) of a switch device, e.g. a protective circuit breaker (10). The movable contact (12) is arranged on a pivot arm (14). The latter (14) is struck by a contact spring (17) in the switching on direction. To switch on, the movable contact (12) is brought to the stationary contact (11) by the action of a switch lever (29). The device includes a holding element (26) which holds the pivot arm (14) which is held under tension by the contact spring (17). The holding element (26) is released from its engagement with the pivot arm (14) on switching on, by means of the switch lever (29). An engaging recess (27) may be formed on the pivot arm (14) for the holding element (26).
