Abstract

Sulfidation procedure of natural silicates to retain metal vapors. Procedure for preparing sulfur materials from natural silicates and their use to retain metal vapors, such as mercury. The adsorbent products prepared by the process of the invention can be used in the removal of mercury from gas streams resulting from industrial processes: exhaust gases from thermal power plants, mining, the chlor-alkali industry, incineration of urban products, treatment and combustion of fossil fuels, coal, natural gas or oil, gasification of coal, recycling of products (batteries, batteries). The present invention relates to the use of natural silicates such as sepiolite, palygorskite or bentonite; to their preparation (mechanical, thermal, chemical treatment); to the various sulfur deposition procedures so that they can be applied to the retention of vapors of mercury, or other heavy metals, and to the strategy of using solids in terms of sizes, shape, area / volume ratio, in function of the process being debugged.
